Contemporary Refurbishment, St Ives, Cornwall. The brief of this project was to extend the Ground floor to provide a second Bedroom and refurbish the property inside and out, to present a more coherent piece of architecture. The 1st floor was to be extended out over the Balcony / Terrace to improve the internal Living space, with a new Balcony/Terrace on the roof of the Ground floor extension. The flat roof was to be raised and re-laid with adequate structure and thermal insulation, with the Conservatory / Porch removed from the side of the Ground floor.
Contemporary Refurbishment, St Ives, Cornwall. This project was designed to improve and enhance the accommodation of the dwelling, by creating an additional Bedroom within a single-storey Extension and increasing the 1st floor Living space, with Planning Permission being granted without any major problems or amendments required. Extending the 1st floor and re-cladding the rendered walls created ‘clean lines’, while retaining the original stone wall for a beautiful contrast of old and new. The building fabric was brought up to current Building Regulations standards with a new, well-insulated flat roof and new windows and doors. Some minor internal alterations improved the functionality and flow of the internal layout.
The Roof Terrace over the single-storey Extension provides spectacular views over the St Ives harbour and across St Ives Bay to the beautiful stretch of coast between Gwithian and Hayle. We have significantly improved the external appearance, accommodation and functionality of The Studio, while retaining local distinctiveness and character, without any adverse effects on neighbouring properties.
